MID-WAR DANCE MOVES

I wonder, had there been no war, what dance would have emerged?

But there is war, and these are the movements that were created at this time, in this place.

Do you feel like the ground is slipping away from under your feet? Then let’s lay down some sand, a sea, and a boat.

We write scripts, looking for new ways to convey the reality; here, we are the ones who control the situation.

This ritual takes place between us – the dancers – and you – the audience. It’s something special, isn’t it?

We can sail wherever we want.

About creators Tel Aviv-based choreographers Yossi Berg and Oded Graf began their creative partnership in 2005. They have since developed a reputation for boundary-pushing work that is physical, poignant, and sharply inventive. Their productions have toured internationally- appearing at Festival Montpellier Danse, American Dance Festival, The Joyce Theater (NYC), Dansens Hus Stockholm, SIDance South Korea, among many others – and have earned several prestigious awards. They have also been commissioned as guest choreographers by numerous dance companies, opera houses, and academic institutions, and their work has been studied internationally at several universities.
Since 2020, Yossi has led the Sadna Professional Dance Program at Kibbutz Ga’aton, serving as both Artistic Director and teacher. Oded directed the Curtain Up Dance Festival (2000–2024) and, since 2023, has been a regular faculty member in the MFA program at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance.
Among their many honors are awards like first prize at the Hannover Dance Competition, the Israeli Ministry of Culture Award for Outstanding Choreographers and the Rosenblum Prize for Artistic Excellence in the Performing Arts.
Yossi is an avid mountain trekker; Oded is a dedicated yoga practitioner.

על היוצרים הכוריאוגרפים התל אביביים יוסי ברג ועודד גרף שהחלו לשתף פעולה בשנת 2005, צברו מוניטין של עבודה פורצת גבולות שהיא מאוד פיזית, נוקבת וחכמה. ברג וגרף סיירו עם להקתם ברחבי העולם (פסטיבל מונפלייה צרפת, אמריקן דאנס פסטיבל, ארה”ב, תיאטרון ג’ויס ניו יורק, תיאטרון דאנס האוס שבדיה, פסטיבל סידאנס דרום קוריאה, ועוד) וקיבלו מספר פרסים בינלאומיים יוקרתיים. בנוסף, הוזמנו ככוריאוגרפים אורחים ליצור במספר רב של להקות מחול ואוניברסיטאות. יוסי ועודד הם מנהלים אמנותיים, ממציאים, חוקרים, רקדנים, מחנכים ומנטורים; הם מלמדים רבות ברחבי העולם ומתמקדים בדור הבא של הרקדנים
